‘Gerry-atric’ Gerry makes viewers cringe as his cheesy chat up lines fall flat in Emmerdale

There’s nothing worse when a man sidles up to a girl in a club and tries on some cheesy chat up lines.

But in Emmerdale, Gerry’s terrible chat only sparks humour and delight in the viewing public, who have named him the ‘underrated character’ of the ITV soap.

Tracey is just having a simple chat with Dougie in The Grange, ahead of the launch of ‘Wingle’ Belle Dingle’s ginger ale.

Then Gerry arrives to invite Tracey to accompany him to the launch of the ginger ale.

One of the more striking things to notice about Gerry’s entrance was actually his suit, which had pretty high trousers and a rather dodgy tie.

He then continued by apologising for Tracey’s ‘loss’, which he seemed to be rather confused about as David is still alive.

His chat then turned a little bit more sexy, or so he hoped, as he invited her to the event.

"I’ve got two tickets to the launch party thing at The Woolpack," he begins.

"So, if you need cheering up, I’m not bothered about the age gap thing.

"Age is just a number – they don’t call me Gerry-atric for nothing."

Tracey was utterly shocked by the assertion that she was geriatric, and quickly asked him how old she thought he was.

"Old enough!" was Gerry’s reply.

Dougie is saddened to hear that the ticket which he thought was meant for him i being offered to Tracey, but Gerry was quick to explain.

"Well, she’s hotter than you!" he quickly remarks.

Tracey leaves them to head to the pub themselves, where Dougie relives his youthful years after a few drinks.

Viewers loved what he had to say.

Emmerdale continues weekdays at 7pm on ITV.
