The announcement that Sex and the City is coming back for another series has sparked excitement among fans but has left Sarah Jessica Parker answering why a main character is missing.
The Sex and the City revival, titled And Just Like That, will not be featuring Samantha Jones, the character played by Kim Cattrall, and Sarah said there's a simple reason for that – she is "not required" for the new series.
The 55-year-old star, who plays fashion writer Carrie Bradshaw in the TV comedy drama, will be joined by Kristin Davis, 55, and Cynthia Nixon, 54, who will play their original characters Charlotte York Goldenblatt and Miranda Hobbes, respectively.
Kim, 64, has maintained that she would never return to the franchise and has been dismissive of Sarah in the past, hinting that she was not "nice" to work with.

Sarah replied to this with: "We will too. We loved her so. X."
In reply to another comment, Sarah wrote: "She will always be there. And we are so excited. X."
