Faye Brookes says DOI will allow fans to see the real her after hiding behind soap character

Faye Brooks is best known for portraying the role of Kate Connor on the ITV soap Coronation Street.

And as she prepares to compete on the 2021 series of Dancing on Ice the actress says that she is unable to hide behind a character when on the ice which will the first time fans will get to know the real her.

The 33-year-old – who has admitted to having dance training in her younger years – has told that the prospect of being herself leaves her feeling "quite vulnerable" and added that the much-loved show is going to be " a real test."

Speaking ahead of the show launch – that will air on January 17 – she said: "Everybody knows that I have trained as a dancer but I don’t know if I can dance on ice so this is going to be a real test to me personally.

"Also, I’m not hiding behind a character so I’ll feel quite vulnerable as the general public, for the first time, see me for me and watch me going through that journey."

Proving that she has hopes to go far in the competition, the Mancunia continued: "I just want to give it my all. I’m not afraid to fall over, that’s at the bottom of my list. I don’t mind if I get on the ice and I’m like Bambi but I hope I can get to grips with it all and find my style and just do my best with the challenge that’s ahead."

Faye has already has been named the favourite to win Dancing On Ice 2021 as Coral bookies have now placed her at odds of 3-1.

Faye, who has partnered up with skating professional with Hamish Gaman, is following in the footsteps of other Corrie stars, Brooke Vincent and Samia Ghadie, who came third and fourth on the show.

According to Coral, the soap star is the front runner this year.

" Dancing on Ice starts this weekend and we make a Coronation Street star the favourite to be crowned the winner of this series,” said Coral's Harry Aitkenhead.
