A nurse has shared a photo capturing the gruelling reality of working on a coronavirus ward.

Lee Charlton, 27 posted the picture on his Facebook page following another hard shift on the pandemic lines.

The picture shows his face lined heavily with marks from wearing PPE.

The nurse, who works at a hospital in Merseyside, shared the insight into his daily working life as he begged people to take Covid-19 seriously before it is too late, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Alongside the picture, the post read: "Hospitals are full! Nurses are overworked! Intensive Care is busier than ever! There aren’t enough beds for our patients. Please believe me this is SERIOUS!

“All these posts & conspiracies saying covid isn’t serious are a HUGE insult to myself & everyone working in the NHS!

There has been a 50% rise in Covid-19 hospital admissions in Merseyside in the past week alone.

Many people commented on Lee's post in solidarity with the nurse.

One user said: “Thank you for everything you do.”

Another said: “Lee fair play mate. It annoys me so much when people watch this bulls*** and believe it. People should ask their friends who work in the hospitals before sharing these lies.”

A third said: “Thank you. We appreciate all you do.”
