Alison Hammond was snapped stocking up on supplies on Tuesday, days after she and Dermot O'Leary made their debut as a presenting team on This Morning.

Alison, who was already known on This Morning for her extreme bouts of laughter during A-list interviews, landed the Friday slot on the show alongside X Factor's Dermot.

They replaced Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, who previously held the Friday show for 14 years.

Alison dutifully wore her mask around the shop, before removing it in the open air to unload her bags into the boot of her car.

She opted for a black and white blouse, a red scrunchy in her hair and matching scarf to chase away the January chill.

While Alison and Dermot's first show proved popular with viewers, it wasn't without an awkward moment.

Chatting with Graham Norton on a video call, Alison asked how his dog – who she'd seen in the past – was doing.

"No – dead," replied Graham, before Alison offered her apologies.

"I am just being horrible to you, it's fine!" Graham laughed.

And taking to his new Virgin Radio show, Graham cleared the air and defended Alison.

The chat show host said: "Now, I meant to say this yesterday, big up Alison Hammond. She got so much flak for apparently, you know, being insensitive or upsetting me.

"Because I did This Morning and she said, 'Oh, how's your dog?' and I said, 'Oh it's dead'.

"And I did it in a deliberate way to be awkward. And it was going to be funny. It was funny.

"And I think she found it funny and Dermot found it funny. I found it funny.

"So I love Alison Hammond and if there was any awkwardness, it was my fault.

"I made it a bad thing. That's the other thing, I feel like people then think I'm kind of heartless.

"I was bereft when the dog went, but now I can use it for comedy."
