Woman shares brutal text she received by mistake from man after first date
She wrote: “Finished up a memorial piece for a friend.
“Snoodles was a sweet, majestic young man and so well loved.
“I’m honoured I got to work on him and now his mom and dad can keep him forever.
“Paws cut and preserved, vials contain cat fur and whiskers and the inked paw print is on a fridge magnet so they can put it wherever they want in their home.”
The photographs of the memorial left people shocked – with one dubbing the tribute "sick."
One person dubbed the memorial "sick"
The post has been shared more than 24,000 times and racked up hundreds of comments.
One woman commented: "I'm not [hating] but I can't find the joy in cutting a dead cats paws off. I literally just can't."
Another blasted: "This is sick."
One woman asked: "Fur yes. Whiskers sure. But paws???? You really chopped off your cats legs to keep forever?"
The defiant taxidermist replied: "Not mine but also not the “worst” thing I’ve done," alongside a crying laughing emoji.
Mindy shared photos of her work – which divided opinion
She added: "I have some more work on my Instagram if y’all wanna check that out."
In another comment, she added: "Just wanna remind anyone that’s sharing this with hateful intentions that sure taxidermy isn’t for everyone and that’s okay!
"But what’s not okay is judging someone for how they decide to mourn/grieve their pets, my friends asked for their little boys paws but others might want a full mount, skull, teeth or even pelt.
Not everyone was a fan of the grisly tribute piece
"You can honor your pets in different ways and honestly it would hurt me more to just bury them in the ground and never have a part of them again.
"We get jewelry, clothes and other items from loved ones when they pass on just think of it the same way."
One fan defended Mindy's work, commenting: "Y’all judgemental mfs who are “angry” about this need to f*** all the way off.
"Everybody experiences grief differently and handles the passing of their loved ones differently.
"Everything about this is perfectly legal, safe, and sane.
"Get the f*** over yourselves and maybe don’t be so narrow-minded.
"Taxidermy and animal preservation is an entire market and people do this more frequently than you think.
"It’s pretty common for pet owners to preserve their pets remains."
