Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted it is unlikely the club will delve into the transfer market for a central defender this month.
Injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip have left the champions threadbare at the back, with Jordan Henderson starting alongside Fabinho in their last Premier League fixture.
Defeat at Southampton made it three without a win for the Reds, as Klopp has seen his side’s lead at the top of the Premier League dwindle away.
But Klopp has claimed that the club “cannot sort it now in the transfer market” and will instead look to find solutions from within his squad.
The uncertain future of Georginio Wijnaldum continues to hang over the team, although the Dutchman remains a fixture in the starting XI.
Here are the latest transfer rumours coming out of Anfield.

Gini Wijnaldum rejected a fresh contract offer from the Reds in December, with his future looking increasingly uncertain.
The 30-year-old’s deal at Anfield expires in the summer, but he is yet to agree to terms on an extension.
Klopp has made it clear that he wants the midfielder to remain on Merseyside and is still a regular within his squad.
However, Barcelona have been extensively linked, with clubs now free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with the player.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on the situation suggesting that although he isn’t speaking to other teams, he has turned down Liverpool ’s latest offer.
He told Give Me Sport: “Talking with people around Gini, I've been told that he has been respectful to Liverpool. So he said. like before Christmas, he spoke with the club, he received a new bid from Liverpool, like in the first week of December, to try to extend his contract and it was not an amazing bid in Gini’s idea.
“He was expecting something different but he said 'okay, let's take some time. I want to speak with my family. I want to decide in the next week, so give me some time to decide and I won’t talk with any other clubs’.”
Van den Berg on the move
Despite their injury crisis at the back, Klopp is reportedly willing to allow Sepp van den Berg to leave on loan this month.
Van den Berg, 19, has spent most of the season with the Under-23s but has also been named on the bench for the senior team as centre-back cover.
And despite Fabinho and Henderson being used against the Saints, Liverpool will allow the Dutchman to leave on loan before the end of the January window, according to Goal.

There is said to be extensive interest in the defender, with clubs from Belgium, Switzerland and Germany all linked with a move.
Van den Berg joined the Reds in a £1.3m move from Dutch club PEC Zwolle in the summer of 2019, but has managed just four senior appearances, each of which came in the domestic cups.
Reds bosses are keen to follow him the path of Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips, both of whom gained great experience away from Anfield.
Spurs in for Botman

Although Klopp has suggested there will be no defensive incomings, a whole host of names continue to be linked with a move.
The Lille defender has a growing reputation across Europe following his move from Ajax in the summer.
Botman has become a regular with the Ligue 1 club, but financial issues across the French top-flight could force them into a quick sale.
Reports have suggested Liverpool have extensively scouted the 20-year-old, although no official approach has been made.
And Liverpool aren’t the only admirers with Duncan Castles telling Reach PLC’s Transfer Window podcast that Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is also keen.
Mourinho is also in the market for a left-sided central defender and believes Botman could fit the bill.
