The Duchess of Cambridge enjoyed her 39th birthday yesterday with a cup of tea instead of a shooting party with friends.

Kate usually celebrates her special day by inviting her friends over to her country home Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

But with the nation plunged into its third lockdown she instead spent a ‘quiet birthday’ with a tea party organised by Prince William and children George, seven, Charlotte, five, and two-year-old Louis, it has been claimed.

Other members of the royal family ensured her birthday was not forgotten with The Queen, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall all send their wishes through social media.

The official Royal Family account posted two images of Kate with the caption: "Wishing the Duchess of Cambridge a very happy birthday today!" – with the hashtag #HappyBirthdayHRH.
