Savvy mum bags £1,400 of products for free and reveals how you can too with simple step

A savvy mum managed to snag £1,400 of free products, including designer brands, over the course of a year and has now revealed how others can too.

The money-smart mum, from West Yorkshire, has spent a year freebie hunting and bagging free items.

Kasia Dul has collected freebies, including a Pandora charm, Elizabeth Arden and Dio beauty bundles, an Echo Dot, Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet and YSL Touche Eclat Illuminating Pens.

The 35-year-old said: “I haven’t counted exactly how many free products I’ve managed to collect over the course of 2020 as there are so many but, at a guess, I'd say that my stash of freebie items and prizes is worth around £1,400.

Her freebie hunting is so successful it’s helping Kasia save money as well, as she does not have to buy make-up, fragrances and skincare products for a while.

The thrifty mum said: “I’d usually be spending around £100 a month otherwise.

“Some of the freebies I got were full-sized so they lasted for a long time.

"I even had enough to share with friends and family as gifts.”

Kasia first began her freebie hunting hobby when she was recovering from an illness, looking for a way to fill her time.

“I started applying for free stuff when I was at home on sick leave at the beginning of the year,” she says.

“While I was recovering, I discovered LatestFreeStuff.co.uk.

"Every day there is something new to apply for.

"You also receive rewards for being an active member.”

She uses the sites app and newsletter to try to get freebies and has found a community of other freebie hunters as well.

She explains how her trick is to switch on the app notifications so she gets a reminder every time a new free item is added.

When she hears it ping, she user her spare time to immediately apply for it.

But you've got to be quick – as there is competition among the many members is fierce and samples quickly run out.

And if there are any extra steps included, such as postage and packaging fees, this should be clearly stated which allows you to choose whether to go ahead with it, or not.

Kasia added that she usually avoided applying for freebies when there would be a postage fee, unless it is a small amount or the products are full-sized.

“There’s a Polish language group on Facebook called ‘Zaradni Polacy w UK Grupa’ that’s great for finding freebies and bargains, as well as tips and tricks on how to save money. Plus I’m a big fan of latestdeals.co.uk/freebies, " she added.

She also utilises tester panels and is always asking for free samples in shops too.

Examples of tester panels include Home Tester Club, The Insiders, TryIt Sampling Community, First Beauty, Personal Perks and Vogue Insiders.

And she advises asking the salespeople at beauty counters at Boots, Debenhams, House of Fraser and The Perfume Shop if they have any free samples they can give away.
