A long-term plan can come to fruition with COPPERHEAD in the Ladbrokes Trophy (3.00) at Newbury.

Colin Tizzard spied this as a target after the chestnut's course and distance win last December – and he will be primed to run a big race at odds of around 12-1.

The six-year-old was highly progressive last season and can resume the upward curve now his yard is in better form.

Kildisart is one of several dangers, along with Secret Investor, a horse who will relish the forecast going.

In the Grade 1 Betfair Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle (2.05), it’s hard to see past EPATANTE.

This time last year JP McManus’ mare was winning a handicap hurdle on the Ladbrokes Trophy undercard.

Four months later, Epatante dominated the Champion Hurdle field to give Nicky Henderson his eighth triumph in the race and the evidence of her three-length Cheltenham supremacy suggests she still has bags of untapped potential.

Henderson and McManus combine with CHAMPAGNE PLATINUM, who catches the eye back over timber in Newbury's Get Your Ladbrokes £1 Free Bet Today Handicap Hurdle (1.50).

The grey son of Stowaway didn’t manage to hit the bullseye in four attempts over fences last season.

He's a horse clearly in good heart, plus he is 6lb lower than his last winning mark, which gives him a great chance.
