Emmerdale 's Laurel Thomas will take the test that tells her her baby is likely to have Down's syndrome in next week's episodes.
Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy), who is expecting a baby with her partner Jai Sharma, is left devastated when she learns the results of the rest.
The pair are set to become embroiled in a heartbreaking storyline which will see them decide to have an abortion when they learn about their baby's needs.

The storyline has already attracted some criticism from Down's syndrome charities and organisations.
But next week is the first time viewers will be able to see and judge how the soap has dealt with the issue.
Laurel and Jai (Chris Bisson) leave early for the private scan, at the hospital, the sonographer predicts Laurel is thirteen weeks pregnant but decides to get a colleague to confirm.

The couple learn their baby might have Down's syndrome
When a more senior consultant arrives, they explain from the scan results it is likely Jai and Laurel’s baby will have a type of chromosomal syndrome and asks whether they would like to perform a further test to confirm this.
The revelation leaves them both upset and Laurel is crushed, but Jai tries to remain positive.
The next day, Laurel frets over yesterday’s scan results whilst her oblivious son Arthur makes disparaging comments about a pregnant teacher at school.

Stressed out, Laurel reacts badly and Jai realises she is stressing about the CVS test.
Jai and Laurel debate whether or not to take it, aware they will be risking their baby’s life.
The next day, Laurel and Jai ready themselves for their hospital appointment, both worried about it and what it may bring.
