A fan of The Chase has explained an amusing joke behind the show's nickname for Mark Labbett.
As one of the ITV gameshow's most famous 'Chasers', Mark Labbett is best known as The Beast.
Many will likely have assumed there is not a particularly elaborate reason for the nickname, with it being mostly linked to his shape or towering 6ft7in height.
However, now one Twitter user has posted an amusing explanation for why Mark has the nickname The Beast.
Instead of a reference to Mark's physical appearance, it is actually because The Beast in French translates as La Bête, mirroring Mark's own surname.

"And I am only TODAY learning that Mark Labbett is called The Beast cos ‘la bête’ is french for ‘the beast’, not just because he is a portly gentleman."
The revelation caused quite the reaction on social media.
