Mikel Arteta has been urged to utilise youngster Joe Willock more regularly in an effort to get the best out of Alexandre Lacazette.

Former Arsenal forward Kevin Campbell sees the 21-year-old, who has risen through the ranks in north London, as the next Aaron Ramsey.

The Welshman was a hugely influential figure at the Emirates, often providing goals and assists before leaving for Juventus.

Willock has been given several opportunities by Arteta this term, although none of those have come in the Premier League.

The Spaniard is seeking some consistency from his Gunners stars who have won four and lost four in the league thus far.

Getting Lacazette firing will certainly help things, with the Frenchman goalless since September.

And Campbell is confident that Willock can transform into the type of player who his striker's relish playing with.

“Joe Willock, I am telling you now, you can see that he’s starting to grow into that role when he comes into the team now,” the ex-Gunners striker told Highbury Squad .

“He’s a striker’s dream. Honestly, when he plays and with Lacazette, he would make Lacazette’s job 50 per cent easier, because he runs beyond, a bit like how Ramsey used to.

“Willock’s got energy to burn, he runs behind. It’s very difficult to pick him up.

“I like this young player. He’s another one, you don’t ever see him moan, groan or anything. He gets on with it. He gets in the team and he’s always involved in goals.”

Arteta has discussed Willock's lack of game time in the league with the player himself.

But the Spaniard is impressed with how the 21-year-old has dealt with the rotation.

He said: “I mentioned with Joe that I've been really impressed with the way he's handled the situation of not having much game time in the Premier League.

“The reflection of that is the way he's played in the Europa League when he had the minutes or the Carabao Cup. He has a chance like everybody else.”
