The Chase newbie Darragh Ennis accidentally "insulted" host Bradley Walsh live on air.

The new Chaser was appearing on Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp today when he stumbled over a question about his new co-star.

He was taking part in Roman's Mega Hard Super Quiz when he made the mistake.

Roman, who claimed to have the toughest quiz in radio, was up to round four with the Chaser, nicknamed 'The Menace', when he asked him: "How many children does Bradley Walsh have?"

After Darragh gave the wrong answer – “three” [Bradley has two children]- Roman triumphantly told Darragh: "Not only have you perished in embarrassment, but you’ve insulted someone that you work with.

"Bradley Walsh as well, what a lovely guy! What a terrible guy to insult! You’re never going to be able to show your face there ever again, Darragh!"

Every day, Capital Breakfast listeners call in and attempt to answer five questions of increasing difficulty correctly as they take on Roman’s Mega Hard Super Quiz – only two people have ever beaten Roman and made it to “the elite” – listener Sarah and The Chase star Anne Hegerty.

In an attempt to stop Roman from bragging so much, his fellow hosts Sian Welby and Sonny Jay arranged for the new Chaser to take on the quiz, only for Darragh to "perish in embarrassment" as he failed on a question about his colleague.

He first appeared on the show back in 2017 but has returned now to join Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan, Shaun 'The Dark Destroyer' Wallace, Mark 'The Beast' Labbett, Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty and Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha.

He said: "I'm so pleased to be the sixth Chaser.
