Kirby Morrow dead: Voice actor behind Cyclops, Goku and Miroku dies aged 47

Kirby Morrow has sadly died aged 47

Voice actor Kirby Morrow has died at the age of 47.

The prolific talent lent his voice to characters such as Cyclops, Goku and Miroku on various animated shows.

The cause of death is currently unknown, The Wrap reports.

His brother Casey announced the sad news on Facebook on Thursday, writing: "Kirby was a blessed and talented individual who brought joy to so many but also thrived off all your love and friendship.

"He lived for it and it fueled him every day."

A native of Alberta, Canada, he lived in Calgary and worked in Vancouver.

His roles ranged from Miroku from InuYasha to Cyclops to X-Men Evolution, and Teru Mikami from Death Note to Goku from Ocean's dub of Dragon Ball Z.

Kirby also famously voiced Cole in the silver screen's Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu.

And on the hugely popular Stargate Atlantis, Kirby portrayed Captain Dave Kleinman.

Kirby was incredibly prolific

Other TV series he appeared in included Supergirl, Legion, The Good Doctor and The Flash.

Just this month, it was announced that Kirby would be reprising his role as Miroku, one of his best known roles.

Kirby's family has since been met with an outpouring of love on social media.

Sharing a picture of them together, one of Kirby's co-stars, Kelly Sheridan, wrote: "Shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the passing of dear @Kirby_Morrow.

"It seems at every important stage in my career, he was there at the mic right next to mine. Jay, Van, Nutcracker Prince, Miroku.

"My good luck charm. He'll be so very missed by myself & our entire community."

Publishing Company VIZ Media tweeted: "We're incredibly sad to hear the news of voice actor Kirby Morrow's passing.

"He was an amazing talent and we were honored to have worked with him on Inuyasha and Yashahime.

"Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time."
