Newly released snaps from show th cast of The Crown having a hoot backstage, with not a stiff upper lip or royal formality to be seen.

The hilarious pics show actressesGillian Anderson and Helena Bonham Carter giggling hysterically on set while dressed as Margaret Thatcher and Princess Margaret.

Actor Sam Phillips, who plays one of the courtiers for The Queen in the series, shared a flurry of images on his Instagram account showing a number of funny moments from the set.

In one image, Helena is seen sat down laughing beside an equally amused Tobias Menzies, who plays her brother-in-law Prince Philip on the drama.

Meanwhile, Sam also posed for a selfie with a giggling Gillian Anderson, who joined the cast for season 4 as the imperious and controversial Prime Minister Thatcher.

The light-hearted smiles were miles away from her character, with Gillian also posting her own selfie of herself with show creator, writer and her partner Peter Morgan, while The Queen actress Olivia Colman provided the best photobomb with a jubilant smile in the background.
