Defence Secretary Ben Wallace left Lorraine Kelly "frustrated", leading to her slamming him and other leaders on Good Morning Britain on Thursday.

Wallace appeared on to discuss the latest news with hosts Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard.

He got quite a grilling too, over the military, coronavirus restrictions and whether Christmas will go ahead this year.

Amid talks of a five-day break and loosening of Covid restrictions, Susanna wanted to know his thoughts.

As he suggested the UK could suffer the consequences of not following the guidelines into next year, he refused to clarify whether he agreed with rumoured Christmas plans.

He said he "didn't want to be The Grinch whole stole Christmas", and declined to pin point whether his thoughts on restrictions applied to the festive period, as well as any time of the year.

As the interview came to an end, Ben and Susanna handed over to Lorraine to find out what was coming up on her show that day.

But not one to hold back against MPs, Lorraine ranted about Wallace and others in charge for not saying it straight.

She said: "Can I just say cautiously, no. Just say it. I'm getting so frustrated about this.

"I know how important Christmas is, I really do. I appreciate that, but for goodness sake will we stop all this woolliness?

"And trying to be nice, and wanting to be loved, and liked. They're leaders, they're in charge – say what is right for the country and what is gonna save lives!

"I mean what's more important, having a dinner and being with your family, I know how important that is believe you me, or keeping everybody safe?

"It's a no-brainer so just stop waffling about, and just say it as it is, that's it, it's gone, sorry.

"You have to be with a smaller group of people this year, that's gonna be hard but it means that actually in the New Year we will get over this quicker!"

Susanna was stunned by the outburst but backed her, as Ben called for her to be Prime Minister.

Lorraine added: "Sorry, it just drives me crazy. I can't be doing with all the woolliness, I can't be doing with it.

"Just stop wanting to be liked, and just stick to your plan and get on with it."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
