Great British Bake Off fans were devastated when Hermine got the chop on Tuesday's semi finals.

Mum-of-one Hermine had been a huge fan favourite the entire series and had regularly impressed judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

But patisserie week saw Hermine fall flat as bakers were asked to bake a Danish cornucopia cake as their technical challenge.

The cake, otherwise known as Horn of Plenty, sparked a lot of problems for the bakers and a lot of innuendos from hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas.

The signature round was a boozy cake, while the showstopper challenge was to create a cake made out of smaller cakes.

Hermine expected to do well, with Prue telling her: "This will be your day".

But later in the show, Prue said Hermine's performance had been "so disappointing".

Hermine failed to impress despite the challenges being suited to her strengths

But viewers were confused at how Hermine scored low despite Peter also struggling and not actually creating a horn.

One wrote: "I'm still not fully understanding the scoring for the technical. "Hermine, yours was almost perfect, 2nd" "Peter, we asked for a horn, and you didnt make one, which means you didn't fit the brief. 1st."

"Am I missing something due to editing? #GBBO#BakeOff ".

Peter was star baker

Another added: "So Hermine was the ONLY one to get the challenge to look exactly as expected and she's second…. what?!".

Another ranted: " #GBBO IS RIGGED. HOW DID LAURA NOT GO? BULLS**T."

"The fact Hermine has gone and Laura hasn’t makes my blood boil. Ridiculous," wrote another.

"Cant believe that Laura is still in the competition when Hermine has been smashing it since day 1! What the hell?" asked another.

Another penned: "Noooo, how has Hermine not made the final. Star Baker twice, one bad week and she’s gone, surely got to take more than one week into account when deciding finalists.

" @[email protected] why!?!"

With Hermine gone, this leaves Peter Sawkins, Dave Friday and Laura Adlington to battle it out in next week's final.
