Alison Hammond was left apologising on air on This Morning, after becoming distracted mid-sentence by what she thought was a man in the studio.

Not only that, but she claimed she thought someone was coming towards her as she suddenly stopped presenting her lines.

The telly favourite, who stepped in for normal host Holly Willoughby on Wednesday, did not disappoint as usual.

She was about to host a heartwarming segment about two friends who are 70 years apart in age.

Telling viewers what was ahead, she suddenly began to sound confused and slowed down her speech.

"Did you think there was someone over there?" Phillip quizzed.

Alison confessed: "I actually was like who is that? About to come and attack me, I'm so sorry."

Phillip roared with laughter, before shouting: "You thought someone had got in!"

She repeated: "I do apologise, I'm so sorry," before making a mistake with the next guest's name, causing Phil to correct her while still laughing.

She then asked the crew to remove the "man" to avoid any further distractions.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
