US Masters free tips and betting analysis for Augusta 2020
Our top tips for Augusta, (from left) Jason Day, Cameron Smith and Tyrrell Hatton
The 84th staging of the US Masters will be like no other.
But while the date and the atmosphere have changed, and probably the weather too, the venue has not.
For the past 85 years the iconic Masters tournament has been held at Augusta National.
Originally designed by Scot Alister MacKenzie and Bobby Jones, the contest is synonymous with marquee winners since inaugural winner Horton Smith in 1934.
Think Nicklaus, Palmer, Player, and of course more recently Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickleson, and five time winner Tiger Woods, who ran out an emotional winner in 2019.
UK fans may even benefit from the rescheduling. There are fewer hours of daylight in Georgia at the this time of year, so play should be completed by 10pm on the first three days, while the winner could be crowed before 8pm UK time on Sunday.
No sitting up with pots of strong coffee on the go to see who will put on the famous Green Jacket. But who will that be this year?
Chris Uren's US Masters tips
Jason Day – the perfect game for Augusta – 33/1 here
Tyrrell Hatton – hits straight & scrambles well – 28/1 here
Cameron Smith – expect a bold bid from 2018's 5th placed finisher – 66/1 here
Covid has denied us of some of the traditions of the Masters tournament.
There will be no par 3 contest and no patrons in attendance this year.
Of course the date has changed from its traditional April slot to November so expect lower temperatures and a little more rain.
We will also have a two tee start due to less daylight at this time of year.
So what can we expect from this year’s edition?
Augusta is a long track and the time of year will only lengthen the course. The shape of the
fairways and weather will combine to make this a tough test for short hitters.
So length off the tee will help.
Players must also have the accuracy to hit the greens in regulation either by good iron play or being able to pitch and chip their way out of trouble should they need to.
The fabled Green Jacket awaits the player who executes these skills best on the week.
Who can win?
Aussie Jason Day has the perfect game for Augusta and is competitively priced at 33/1 at thepools.com .
With payment on the first seven places, expect Jason Day to give a strong showing having had three top five finishes at the course.
We have had a couple of first time major winners this year in Bryson DeChambeau and Colin Morikawa, so why not a third at the Masters?

Cameron Smith, a 27 year old Australian, fits that bill.
He has already won twice on the PGA Tour and has finished fifth at the Masters a couple of years ago.
Priced at 66/1 , expect Smith to make a bold bid at Augusta this week.
British interest is around Tyrell Hatton. A winner earlier in the year at the Arnold Palmer tournament, Hatton hits the ball straight and scrambles well.
28/1 could prove to be a good bet for those looking for a home winner.
