The Greatest Dancer kicked off its live shows last night with a showstopper group routine – even though some fans were convinced that Cheryl had forgotten her steps.
The Geordie beauty was in emotional mood throughout the show, seeming tearful every time one of her acts took the stage:
She said after Harry and Eliyah’s routine: “I’m a mess. I am a mess. That was world class.
“Your technical ability is crazy to me. That split jump over her head was insane.
“Those pirouettes were insane. The technicality in it but also the feeling, it’s not a cold technicality, it’s a emotive technicality.”

It was an emotional night for Cheryl
The audience, which included Cheryl’s old X-factor boss Simon Cowell, seemed to agree with her, cheering wildly for the pair from Liverpool.
All of the acts did well in front of the live audience, but of course one of them had to go home, and the unlucky competitors were five-piece drag ensemble Globe Girls.

The Londoners are a shock early departure: each one of them is a seasoned West End performer and they describe themselves as ‘triple threats’ – each of them can act, dance and sing to a professional standard.
Alex, Jak, Matt, Tom & JP were – all too briefly – part of Oti’s team. Jak described the group as all having their own individual roles: “Matt is the sensible, warm and reliable one. I am the sexy one, Alex is the young free spirit, Tom is the attractive one and JP is the newest kid on the block.”
Unfortunately we’ll never see all of these qualities displayed as the group’s run on TGD is now over.

They’re the first departures but they won’t be the last. Next week’s live show will see two acts going home.
