The Voice is meant to be about finding the next big singing star, but it seems Olly Murs felt he needed to prove his own musical worth in the latest episode of the ITV show.
On Saturday night, footage of the latest round of blind auditions saw a range of singers take to the stage – from girl groups to ethereal soloists.
But one of the audience members only wanted to hear one voice – that of 34-year-old chart sensation Olly.
“I think you should sing,” one audience member declared – prompting Olly to take to the stage (with a little help from will.i.am) to crack out a rendition of his song Moves.

However, those tuning in from home were not impressed to see the show coach take to the stage himself – sparking something of a backlash from viewers.
“Was that Olly’s mum shouting out “I think you should sing” #TheVoiceUK,” one amused fan commented on Twitter .
“No ollie don’t sing,” another viewer commented – with others sharing gifs that showed expressions of exasperation and contempt.

One viewer slammed the moment as coming across as disingenuous, tweeting: “not as if it’s rehearsed or anything.”
While another seemed to take a swipe at Will – who filled in for Snoop Dogg who features on the actual track – tweeting: “Oh Christ. Here he goes. Putting the C into rap.”
Another felt Will was the only thing that saved the moment, tweeting: “At least Will is helping him out.. Dire.”

The Voice continues on ITV on Saturday night at 8pm.
