Riverdale renewed for season 4 by The CW

It was only a matter of time.

Teen drama mega-hit Riverdale has been confirmed to receive a fourth season by its network The CW in the US.

The series is shown on Netflix in the UK, with the streaming giant also being home to its spin-off series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Another spin-off series has also been confirmed, focusing on Archie Comics character Katy Keene.

Riverdale follows the teens of the titular town as they cope with the dramas of growing up and investigating dark mysteries that grip the town.

The first season focused on the murder of local teen Jason Blossom before the second season tackled a masked serial killer named the Black Hood.

The current third season centres on dangerous cults emerging in the form of those who worship the masked Gargoyle King and also those who live at a mysterious Farm.

The series stars the likes of KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Marisol Nichols , Madeleine Petsch, Mark Consuelos , Skeet Ulrich , Madchen Amick , and Luke Perry .

Also due to return later in the third season is The Breakfast Club star Molly Ringwald as Archie Andrews’ mother, Mary.

Just where will the show go next in its fourth season, if the increasingly crazy third outing is anything to go by?

And will Archie Andrews ever be able to keep his top on?!

Riverdale is currently showing season 3.
