Brutal new Channel 4 show sees jury vote on whether person has plastic surgery

A new Channel 4 show is set to shock viewers as a jury vote on whether a person can undergo plastic surgery.

Young people keen to have cosmetic surgery will appear on the programme, The Surjury, but must secure 75 per cent of the jury vote.

If the jury votes in favour, the person will have the procedure and will be invited back months later to "show off the results".

Producers of the show have insisted that it will either allow the young person to have the "surgery they’ve always wanted" or give them a "confidence boost" when the jury votes that they don’t need it.

Meanwhile Channel 4 have said that  the "life-changing procedures" on the show will put cosmetic surgery under the spotlight for an "image-obsessed generation".

Ross McCarthy, executive producer for Gobstopper Television, which is making the show, said: "This is a totally new way of doing peer-to- peer advice. Our pitchers will either get the surgery they’ve always wanted, or a massive boost in confidence when the public rules they don’t need work at all!"

Becky Cadman, Channel 4’s factual entertainment commissioning editor, said: "The Surjury is an innovative format that promises to literally get under the skin of people who think that a quick fix is their best option."

The Surjury will allow people to have a variety of different procedures including bum lifts, sculpted abs, bum-lifts and breast enlargements.

"The Surjury allows people to explore their choices more thoroughly and to take measured advice from their peers, some of whom may previously have gone under the knife themselves and will happily hold court on the subject," the broadcaster said.
