Laura Plummer reveals exactly what she did when she carried drugs into Egypt

Laura Plummer has gone into detail about exactly what happened when she wound up in an Egyptian prison cell after being caught with 290 Tramadol tablets in her holiday suitcase.

Appearing on Wednesday’s Good Morning Britain , Laura gave her first TV interview on her ordeal and admitted she was feeling ‘very overwhelmed’ on her return to Britain.

The Hull native furiously denied to hosts Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan that she was a drug dealer and said she was ’embarrassed by her mistake’ after not realising the pain-killer was banned in Egypt.

Laura told how she’d been given the Tramadol from a friend at work after a discussion about her Egyptian partner Omar Caboo’s backpain.

"I never asked her for that much," said Laura. "I didn’t think anything of them," she added.

Laura packed the pills, which she said came in a pharmacy bag, in her suitcase and headed off on holiday in October 2017.

Recalling the moment she was stopped at customs in Hurghada International Airport, Laura said: "I was so, so happy walking into the airport.

"And I saw the guy and I know how it works.. so I went to the guy at the conveyor belt where they check your suitcase and I said, ‘Oh hi!’

"And he said, ‘Oh hello, can you put your suitcase on?’"

After following instructions Laura was then asked if she was carrying medication.
