Dancing on Ice: Wes Nelson and Vanessa Bauer almost KISS in sultry routine

Wes Nelson and Vanessa Bauer were close to kissing during their romantic routine on Dancing on Ice .

This causes more controversy of course, as his ex girlfriend Megan Barton-Hanson was in the audience, smiling and clapping as she watched him.

The routine was a slower one than their performance last week – skating to Sign Of The Times by Harry Styles.

They began in hold, and some of Vanessa’s lifts were completely gorgeous, though they did mean Vanessa was draping her body over Wes in a number of intriguing contortions.

At one point, Wes held onto Vanessa’s rear as he lifted her onto his shoulder, but quickly she leant backwards so her whole back was draped across his shoulder, and he held her front and back to steady her.

It was incredibly romantic throughout, and the final flourish really wowed when she knealt on the ice and he joined her on the ground, wrapped his arms around her and their faces came very close together, looking as though they were about to kiss.

The romantic routine got them some high scores, though not quite as much as last week, but naturally the cameras moved quickly to Megan.

She smiled and clapped, even whooping with her friends as he heard his scores, but of course viewers would expect for her to not have enjoyed such a romantic performance, so close to their break-up.

Jason Gardiner then commented about the fans: "You are lovely together," which must not have been music to Megan’s ears.

Early in the competition Vanessa announced she had broken up with her boyfriend, so many performers thought this could be an example of the Dancing on Ice curse.

Megan has also made her feelings about Vanessa clear, as she posted an angry rant where she called out the skater for neglecting to invite her to rehearsals.

Then, in an appearance on Loose Women, she called her "disrespectful" for not including her in their rehearsals – and she clearly paid the price in the end.

Dancing on Ice airs Sundays at 6pm on ITV.
