Coronation Street is about to lose a much-loved character, after an accident at the factory sparks devastation on the Cobbles.
While the identity of the unlucky victim has not been revealed, viewers are set for heartbreaking scenes when a popular Weatherfield resident loses their life when the Underworld factory collapses – and they have big suspicions over who that might be.
It has been confirmed that the collapse is no accident, and is in fact deliberate, with a new villain set to cause havoc on the Street.
But amid the rumours of cast exits, who dies in the tragic storyline? Here’s who the fans think will die in the scenes, and you might be surprised…

Maria Connor is safe, the actress has claimed
Maria actress Samia Longchambon has ruled herself out as the factory victim, confirming her character doesn’t die.
But could it all be a red herring making us think the hairdresser is safe?
Fans fear Peter and Carla will be torn apart forever
Corrie fans are a little concerned Ken Barlow’s son, played by actor Chris Gacoyne, is about to lose his life just as he’s grown close to ex Carla Connor again.
True love never seems to last in soap land, with many tipping him to tragically die amid his reunion with factory owner Carla – maybe he’ll die saving her.
Sally Webster’s sister Gina is tipped to be killed off
Sally Webster’s sister works in the factory, and is in pretty much everyone’s bad books at the moment after she turned against her sibling in her time of need.
She attempted to seduce Sally’s husband Tim Metcalfe before tricking him into thinking they had slept together.
Now, fans are thinking she might lose her life in the factory collapse with one viewer tweeting: “Hands up who else thinks that Gina might be the factory worker who is killed off in the explosion?”
Rana Habeeb is leaving the soap, it’s been confirmed
Rana is hotly tipped to be the victim in the factory, after it was rumoured the character was being killed off, potentially on her wedding day to Kate Connor.
Actress Bhavna Limbachia confirmed her exit, and now fans are linking her departure to the factory stunt, believing she will be die.
Will Kate Connor die?
Rana’s wife-to-be could be another victim, with her own family links to the factory.
There’s speculation Kate will tragically pass away, leaving Rana to depart the show.
Fans don’t want Carla to die
Peter Barlow’s lover owns the factory, meaning she’s highly likely to be involved in the scenes and might even be the victim.
Alison King reprised her role on the soap in 2017 with it never really confirmed how long she was staying for, so will she depart in the most tragic of ways?
Meanwhile, there’s reports Carla will not die, but will be affected by the tragedy – so does this confirm it’s in fact someone close to her, such as Peter or even sister Kate, that dies?
Roy Cropper could be an unlikely victim
Following the Carla rumours, her BFF Roy Cropper is now a surprise potential victim.
Fans took to Twitter questioning if Roy’s death will lead to the new storyline for Cara, with one viewer saying: “Really hope this ‘accident’ in the factory where someone dies when roof falls in, that I have read about that sends Carla into a break down, hope it’s not Roy.”
Liz McDonald or Jenny Connor
Love rivals Jenny and Liz are also in the running
Another surprise duo of characters tipped to be killed off are love rivals Liz McDonald and Jenny Connor, formerly Jenny Bradley.
Jenny has family links to the factory, with it owned by stepdaughter Carla, while Liz previously had a fling with Jenny’s husband Johnny Connor .
The trio are currently at war after Jenny ran her over, but could something place them in the building when it falls apart?
Fans certainly think so, with one tweeting: “Uh oh either Liz or Jenny are going to die I think.”
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30 and 8:30pm on ITV.
