Octomum Nadya Suleman’s heartbreaking battle to care for autistic son as single mum of 14

Nadya Suleman hit the headlines a decade ago after becoming the first woman to give birth to surviving octuplets.

Now, the single mum of 14 – dubbed Octomum – has revealed she’s facing a heartbreaking battle to care for one of her brood who has special needs.

In an exclusive interview with Lorraine Kelly, she said that while so much attention is paid to her octuplets, her biggest challenge had been raising her severely autistic son.

She describes him as "13 going on one" and insists she’ll "die" looking after him.

Nadya said. "He’ll be my baby forever. I have been his sole care provider since he was born… I will die taking care of him, that’s just the way I am."

The American media personality, who was already a mother of six children before welcoming the octuplets, described life with 14 kids as "organised chaos".

However, she added that she "wouldn’t change" a thing.

The former adult porn star – born Natalie Denise Suleman – said: "I’m used to it, the kids are used to it. They have been allocated chores… I sometimes have to remind them we are a team together.

"In all honesty, my little kids and I, all nine of us, work more as a team than my older ones. My oldest ones do their own thing and I really do re-enforce that. My oldest son is a surfer and my oldest teen wants to be a doctor and she goes to medical core and is volunteering at a hospital.

"My little kids and I, all the responsibility goes on us."
