The fate of one of Emmerdale’s more controversial characters has been confirmed by one of the main protagonists in the storyline that saw them get their just desserts.
Corrupt cop DI Bails had made life hell for Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and when their son, Ryan Stocks (played by James Moore) arrived on the scene, it looked like the abusive nature of DI Bails and Charity’s past relationship was going to haunt her again.
There can be some rejoicing though, as James Moore has revealed that there will be no coming back for DI Bails and his evil reign is over.

Speaking to The Sun about the future of Ryan and Charity, James confirmed life will continue without the corrupt cop.
James has been nominated for a National Television Award for Best Newcomer, after he made a spectacular start to his Emmerdale career, in a storyline that is tipped to win awards at the ceremony.
DI Bails had raped and pimped out Charity when she was a teenager, but he got his comeuppance when his crimes caught up with him and James predicts that will be the last viewers will see of the corrupt cop.

James said: "I think it’s a really contentious issue because obviously Ryan’s very involved with Charity and the Dingles.
"And because what has gone on between the two, I don’t know if there would or could be room to balance both sides. It’s such an obviously divisive issue."
James has also hailed the huge impact that on-screen mum Emma has had on his fledgling soap career.
This is his first major role and James has said that Emma "was like a mentor to me," who has helped him, "get used to what I was doing and finding my feet."

Describing Emma as "a wonderfully talented actress," James said that it was "really nice" to be part of one of the biggest storylines in the ITV soap during 2018.
Speaking about his NTA nomination, James said that "it’s fantastic" and that this time last year he was ‘dreaming’ of being in this position.
With his character seeing a romance possibly blossoming with struggling drug addict Dawn, James is hoping that Ryan will have more interaction with others in the Yorkshire village.
Urging producers to get Ryan "a bit more of a friendship group," he revealed that a storyline involving Victoria is in the offing.
Having proved popular with viewers, there is every opportunity that Ryan will be getting more screen time during 2019.
