EastEnders’ Sean Slater making dramatic return to settle ‘unfinished business’

EastEnders star Robert Kazinsky is returning to the soap as wayward Sean Slater after 10 years away.

The actor will reprise his role as Stacey’s bad boy brother, who caused carnage for his sister and mum Jean over the years.

Sean was last seen running from the scene after nearly killing his wife Roxy Mitchell in a frozen lake in 2009.

Robert, 35, will appear in a handful of episodes on the Beeb in the spring after returning from Hollywood.

Since quitting Albert Square, he has starred in movies including Pacific Rim, Hot Pursuit and Warcraft: The Beginning.

On returning Robert said: “I have always felt that my best work was on EastEnders as Sean Slater.

“I have unfinished business in Albert Square and am thrilled to be returning to what I still consider to be my home.”

He added: "I have always been proud of what EastEnders has done for social awareness throughout my lifetime and that is why I’m back. To tell a story that means something to me, with the family that I know can tell it right."

After plunging into an icy lake and fleeing Walford ten years ago, what brings him back to a place that caused him so much pain and heartache?

Sean’s return may come at the worse possible time with the Slater and Moon families already struggling to keep it together.

Stacey and Jean have been at the centre of the drama recently with Alfie and Hayley’s baby bombshell.

Sean’s comeback could lead to a big storyline for Jean around her mental health.

EastEnders boss Kate Oates revealed details of dark times ahead for Jean in a Twitter Q&A.

On jean’s storyline, Kate said: "She’s going to have a challenge coming her way where we look at her mental health through her physical health. So I’m excited about that one too."

Kate previously teased Sean’s return during the same Q&A video which was posted on the soap’s social media pages.

She said: "We’ve got a couple more secret returnees coming. One is coming back in Spring that I’m really excited about.

"It’s going to be a fairly short stint but I think it’s going to have a really huge impact so they’re part of my big plans for 2019."

Sean was always popular with the ladies of Albert Square and may make moves on ex-girlfriend Ruby Allen when he returns.

They eventually split after she started interfering in his relationship with mum Jean.

He was married to Roxy Mitchell and believed he was Amy’s father until it was dramatically revealed to be Jack Branning

Sean also had relationships with Chelsea Fox, Carly Wicks and Tanya Branning.

He has not featured on the soap since 2009 but has been mentioned on numerous occasions.

In 2015, Stacey made a video call to Sean after discovering a mystery key relating to their dead father Brian.

How will Sean’s big comeback go down in Albert Square?
