The team behind hit comedy The Office are reuniting for a new Netflix comedy based on Donald Trump’s Space Force initiative.
Greg Daniels and Steve Carell have joined forces once again for a comedy based on the setting up of a new military branch focused on keeping space safe from… well, something.
The minute-long trailer, released by Netflix, pokes fun at the President’s idea, giving us a glimpse into what we can expect from upcoming comedy series.
Set against a picture of the Earth’s stratosphere and backed by the anthemic opening of Strauss’s Also sprach Zarathustra (most famously heard in Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey, the static text screen reads: "On June 18, 2018 the Federal Government announced the creation of a 6th major division of the United States Armed Forces.
"The goal of the new branch is ‘to defend satellites from attack’ and ‘perform other space-related tasks’. Or something.
This is the story of the men and women who have to figure it out."
Carell will also star in the series.
Space Force will apparently be the fourth branch of the US Military

Last year, President Trump ordered the creation of a US Space Force.
"It is not enough to merely have an American presence in space. We must have American dominance in space," he said, before a meeting of his National Space Council.
"We are going to have the Air Force and we’re going to have the ‘Space Force.’ Separate but equal. It is going to be something. So important".
Fleshing out the proposals, Vice President Mike Pence explained the Space Operations Force would consist of an “elite group of war fighters specializing in the domain of space”.
