Coronation Street actress Alexandra Mardell has admitted that her mum feared that she would "ruin" her favourite soap.
The 25-year-old, who plays ditzy Emma in the soap, candidly opened up about her mum’s reaction to finding out she had bagged a job at Corrie.
Appearing on TV today, host Lorraine Kelly asked her: "Your mum wasn’t very keen on you going in, in a way."
Laughing, she replied: "Only because she was afraid I was going to ruin her favourite show. But after the first episode she watched it and was like, ‘Oh, actually no – you’ve not ruined it. I actually like it!"
She added that her mum worried that watching her daughter on screen would "put her off and wouldn’t be able to get into it".
