Barbara Windsor’s husband Scott ‘training every single day’ for marathon dementia run

EastEnders actors Kellie Shirley and Adam Woodyatt opened up about their training for the London Marathon, which they are running to raise money as part of ‘Barbara’s Revolutionaries’ for Dementia Revolution.

Actress Barbara Windsor, who played Peggy Mitchell in the hit BBC soap, has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Her husband Scott Mitchell, who first publicly opened up about her diagnosis eight months ago, is so dedicated to the cause that he is training every single day.

Opening up about the training, Adam, who plays Ian Beale, admitted that he hadn’t started training yet.

On their official donation page , Scott says: "Dementia can, and does, have a profound effect on daily life.

"It is heartbreaking for family and friends to watch a loved one struggle with day-to-day life and be slowly stripped of their memories. The same goes for the person living with dementia, who at times can feel confused, disorientated, frustrated and afraid.

"Sadly it has been no exception for Barbara.

The group, also comprised of Jake Wood, Emma Barton, Natalie Cassidy, Tanya Franks, Jamie Borthwick and Jane Slaughter, are hoping to raise £100,000 for Dementia Revolution.
