A disabled man candidly opened up about his relationship with his girlfriend and revealed that strangers often assumed that she was his nurse.
Shane Burcaw, 26, who was born with neuromuscular disease Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), revealed that they were often subjected to a number of awkward encounters.
This included an absolute stranger PRAYING over him during one of his first dates with girlfriend Hannah Aylward, 23.
Appearing on This Morning via video link from Minnesota, Hannah revealed what it was about Shane that she fell in love with.

The couple have been dating for three years

"Mainly it was his sense of humour," she said. "He was writing about his travels and swimming."
Meanwhile he explained: "I get lot of messages from people and they all comment on how inspiring it is… they don’t understand that my whole message is that life with a disability can be beautiful."
The couple spoke to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield today
He added: "Hannah made no mention of my wheelchair or my disability [and] I loved that."
"There’s a pretty widespread misconception about disability in society," Shane said. "So the idea that someone like me would be dating this beautiful, intelligent woman is mind-blowing to some people."

Hannah revealed that someone had prayed over him during their date
Hannah revealed that people often assumed that Shane wouldn’t be able to do things like pay the bill.
Revealing that someone once came over and prayed over him in a restaurant once, Hannah said: "That was on one of our first dates."
"Yeah that was very romantic," Shane sarcastically remarked.
The pair are hoping to educate others about their inter-able relationship through their YouTube channel.
Shane said previously: "Our goal is to normalise disability and relationships like ours."
