Danny Dyer is ‘proved’ to be a SAINT as well as royalty in new family revelation

If you are still struggling to come to terms with the fact that EastEnders star Danny Dyer is of royal descent, then you might have to sit down before reading this.

A new delving into the 41-year-old soap actor’s family lineage has gone deeper than his royal connections to find that he has actually come from a saint.

When BBC family history show Who Do You Think You Are? set the cat among the pigeons in the royal family, after it was revealed that the East End ‘hardman’ was one of them through his relation to King Edward III and William the Conqueror, little was expected that he was a living saint.

Once again we have the BBC to thank for this revelation as new factual show Right Royal Family has drilled down Danny’s lineage even further and has unearthed the fact that he is a descendant of a French ‘saint’

Speaking on the show, Danny said: "I’m a direct descendant from a saint. Saint Louis IX, who was the King of France in, I think it was the 12th century, I can’t remember now.

"Yeah, he was a saint. I think there’s only 2000 saints ever, and he was allowed to have children — he had 11 children, and yeah, I’ve got his blood knocking about, so make of that what you will."

Not sure whether that gives him the power to dish out knighthoods but his royal connections were enforced as it is proved that Danny has a claim to the French throne, as well as the British.

It turns out that Danny’s 26th great-grandfather is the French King Louis IX.

For those that are not up on their French royals, Louis IX was a devout religious leader who died in 1270.

He was later canonised as Saint Louis, thus giving Danny a link to saintdom.

Of course, Danny took this in his stride, saying: “It’s just so much to take in. I’m related to a saint.” He also said it was hard to believe sacred blood was “coursing through my veins”.

Danny Dyer’s Right Royal Family will begin on January 23 on BBC One.
