Sean Ward admits Corrie was partly to blame for porn and booze addiction battle

Ex-Coronation Street star Sean Ward has admitted being on the soap was partly to blame for his battle with addicition.

The actor, who played evil Callum Logan, has gone "cold turkey" and given up booze, drugs and porn to overcome mental health problems.

Sean confessed he met more people once he rose to fame through Corrie but felt "lonelier" as he struggled with his demons.

The situation "unravelled" about a year ago when Sean was away filming Our Girl for seven months.

Opening up on Loose Women, he said: "You do get lonely and realise who your friend are. That’s when it all unravelled at that point. The more people I met when i got in Corrie the lonelier I felt."

Sean had a moment of realisation and put the drink down when some friends from London came up to visit him.

When asked if his addictions had always been there or as a result of being on Corrie, he said: "Half and half. I think any creative in this industry has ups and downs.

He admitted "resentment was building" when he wasn’t getting work and only got one job from 50 auditions last year.

On rebuilding his self-esteem, Sean said: "You have to trick your mind, I know it sounds ridiculous, and say you love yourself.

"Say it repeatedly for a week and you start to feel more comfortable with yourself. Say it for a month and you start to believe it."
