Coronation Street’s Daniel Osbourne is set to lie to his wife Sinead over their baby’s shocking illness.
Sinead has been worried about what affect her chemotherapy could have on her baby, and when she goes into labour incredibly early, sadly it is Daniel who is left with the knowledge theat the newborn may have a sad condition which could play a part in his whole life.
In a dramatic double bill on Monday, Sinead gives birth early after discovering her cancer has spread and she will need to start radiotherapy as quickly as possible.
The baby boy is delivered safely, and the couple name him Bertie, but a doctor quickly takes the child away to eamine him, sparking major fears over his health.

Daniel later hears the news that his son has a bowel condition, but rather than opening up and telling Sinead the truth, he keeps it to himself when she asks him how little Bertie is doing.
Daniel thinks he is doing the right thing as Sinead has so much to worry on, however Tracy Barlow, his sister, has other ideas.
When Tracy discovers Daniel is keeping the news from Sinead, she vows to put things right and tell the poor young mum the truth – but will she go through with it?

Beth Tinker also knows the truth, and tells Tracy of what’s going on, but at the end of the week Sinead finally gets the chance to hold her baby in the neonatal unit.
She cries over her little boy as she gazes at her son.
Actor Rob Mallard, who plays Daniel, told Digital Spy : "Daniel thinks it is far too soon for the baby to be delivered. So much has just been revealed, for example Sinead not attending chemo, that this is too much new information to take.

"When he hears about the bowel condition, it’s confirmation of his fears that Bertie might not be developed enough to survive. Daniel is faced with the prospect of losing his family within the space of a short time.
"Knowing that there’s nothing Sinead can do and that she needs to focus on getting better herself, Daniel sees it as logical to hide this from her. It doesn’t occur to him that he has lied to her, like she was lying to him."
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV.
