Angie Appleton left the cobbles today along with son George as she looked set to start a new life in South Africa.
But Coronation Street fans were left frustrated with her early black cab exit for one main reason – they felt she had so much more potential as a character.
Initially, Angie had been introduced as Mary’s long-lost son Jude’s wife and the pair clashed at the start.
However viewers began to warm to Angie as the truth about Jude was exposed.
Her relationship with mother-in-law Mary was equally touching to watch as well as her spark with Adam Barlow.

A third remarked: "You fitted into Corrie so well, it’s such a shame your leaving , there was so much more to explore with angie… hopefully your back soon! #corrie."
"Getting rid of characters like Angie, why? She had potential, far better than the deadwood the writers hold on to. #corrie," another wrote.
