Gemma Collins has shocking near miss in ‘iconic’ debut on Dancing on Ice

Gemma Collins had a near miss when she almost fell to the ice on Dancing on Ice.

The TOWIE star’s "iconic" performance was pretty incredible as she skated opposite Matt Evers to Beyonce’s Crazy in Love, doing everything from the splits to some cheeky hair flips.

But near the end of the skate, she took things a little bit too far as she added in her own flourish of a "head flick," but it almost set her off balance as she struggled to regain her balance.

Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield after the performance, where her slimmed-down figure shone out in gold glitter, she said: "I got a bit carried away in the end, because I did a head flick, I wasn’t meant to do it…"

Phil then asked her whether she had planned to drop out of the performance, to which she responded: "Two minutes before I came out I looked him in the eyes and went, ‘Please, can I go?’"

But Matt spoke about how well she had done, replying: "First off, she’s iconic, and for somebody who deals with a lot of hate and the trolls… she smashed it and she’s committed to it."

Gemma and Matt received a total of 16.0 from the judges, meaning they’re in the middle of the leaderboard.

While Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean gave them a 4.5, Jason Gardiner wasn’t quite so generous.

The acerbic-tongued judge told her the dance reminded him of a "French and Saunders parody".

Supporting Gemma in the audience were her boyfriend James ‘Arg’ Argent, mother Joan Collins and American reality show pal Jonathan Cheban.

Dancing on Ice airs Sundays at 6pm on ITV.
