EastEnders confirm shock departure of show hunk Hunter Owen

It’s the end of the road for Hunter Owen on EastEnders as show bosses have confirmed the character is being written out.

The troubled teen has featured prolifically in recent episodes of the hit BBC soap after being involved in a murder storyline over the festive season.

Viewers watched on in horror as Hunter shot his stepfather, Ray Kelly, after the latter attempted to kill Hunter’s mother, Mel Owen (played by Tamzin Outwaite).

Hunter has been played by Charlie Winter since February 2018 – and it is expected he will exit the show after just one year, despite fans being gripped by the character’s storylines.

Whether or not the murder plot will lead to his exit is yet to be revealed – but EastEnders bosses have confirmed the character will leave in typical explosive soap style.

“We can confirm Charlie Winter is leaving and wish him all the best for the future,” an EastEnders spokesperson told DigitalSpy, who broke the news.

Meanwhile a show source has revealed Hunter’s exit won’t be for a while – and hinted the consequences of his trigger happy actions may come in to play.

“Bosses are staying tight lipped on exactly how Hunter exits Walford, but after he shot Ray dead at New Year, it promises to be dramatic,” the source said.
