Who turned on the lights? This was on the minds of Luther fans as the finale of the gripping drama witnessed an epic blunder in continiuty.
In a matter of seconds, one of the scenes was plunged from pitch darkness to bright sunshine, as producers seemed to forget that a torch was needed to see just moments earlier.
The problem occurred with Idris Elba’s character John closed in on the serial killer that had been the subject of the series.

Entering the building with with DS Halliday (Wunmi Mosaku), John required a torch to find his way around.
After locating the killer, just moments later, John was seen exiting the property into blazing sunshine, which viewers thought was quite a turnaround.
Of course, those watching then flooded social media with their observations, with many taking to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One viewer wrote: "Anyone notice how quickly it went from night to day in #Luther?"
While another asked: "Did #luther just go from the middle of the night to the middle of the day?"
A third also queried the change, writing: "So #luther went in in the dead of night then came out in broad daylight ! Impressive".
The continuity in Luther was questioned

Another agreed that it was odd: "How did that last scene in #Luther go from night time when they arrived and day time when they left the house?? Did they chill all night with all those dead bodies??"
That wasn’t all that was bothering the viewers, as the shock ending in which DS Halliday was bumped off by psychopath Alice Morgan.
There was outrage at the ending to the finale, as Alice then plunged to her death, leaving viewers with a bitter pill to swallow.
Luther fans felt the end to the series was ‘depressing’

One tweeted: "OH MY GOD NO WHAT THE F*** BBC THIS IS NOT WHAT WE WANTED."
While another commented: "How f***ing depressing was that ending? I feel totally betrayed #Luther."
A third remarked: "they totally f***ing ruined alice and i have never been so p***ed off in my entire life #Luther ."
Meanwhile, other viewers are tried to put the thrilling end out of their mind before bedtime, after labelling the finale as ‘the scariest ever’.
