What has happened in Luther?

Luther began in 2010, following DCI John Luther.

We’ve seen the DCI struggle as he deals with and confronts increasingly worse crimes.

The first series saw him form an unlikely bond with psychopath Alice Morgan (Ruth Wilson). They had a weird romance before she went missing, she was thought dead.

Skip to season four – which had just two episodes in 2015 – and Luther chased a cannibal killer with Cotard syndrome with new colleague Emma.

The ending saw Luther walk off alone, and we weren’t given any answers.

Luther is on BBC1 on New Year’s Day.
