What better way to celebrate the new year than fixing the fate of one your most despised rivals?
Well, it looks like Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) could bring his dislike for Ray (Sean Mahon) to a climatic ending as EastEnders starts 2019 with ‘shocking scenes’.
Ray is set to marry Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite) in a New Year’s Day wedding that is promising to be explosive but he has a setback when his plans to become equal partners in the club are met with resistance from Phil, who doesn’t want him to have a share in the business that is co-managed by his wife Sharon (Letitia Dean).

If that wasn’t enough, what could tip Phil over the edge and into a murderous fury is his daughter Louise (Tilly Keeper) getting closer to Ray.
It’s not all Ray’s fault to be fair, as he lends a sympathetic ear to Louise after she was left heartbroken by the Boxing Day rejection of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters).

Of course, a listening ear soon becomes a belief that Ray wants something more and after Louise leans in for a kiss, he is shocked at the turn of events.
Despite Ray shutting the moment down, he took a pleasure in knowing that he could have a way into Phil’s mind, to mess with him a little more.

What Ray doesn’t know is that he is at the centre of a plot to bring him down once and for all, as his wife-to-be Mel has been plotting with the bigamist’s two other wives to reveal all to residents of Albert Square of Ray’s secrets.
Tamzin Outhwaite has already revealed that there will be some dark scenes filmed in the depths of the woods, which will involve Mel and Ray but as those out to get him start closing in for the kill, it could be Phil that makes the final, fatal blow.
What is for certain is that with Tamzin saying the scenes were frightening to film, it will be an edge-of-the-sofa ride for viewers at home.
