Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick has revealed intriguing details of Vanessa Woofield’s mystery attacker.
Vanessa is left fighting for her life in the coming weeks after being stabbed by a familiar face that the audience has met before.
Michelle has teased the identity of the hooded figure that stabs her character after she tries to stop them burning down the pub.
She remained very tight-lipped, but did reveal that it is definitely a man and it could be someone from her past.
The soap actress also hinted that there could be a connection to girlfriend Charity or another member of the Dingle clan.

Speaking to Mirror Online, Michelle said: ": Do you know what, I wish I could tell you, but I can’t.
"We’ve got to think is it someone from her past, is it a connection to Charity or the Dingles? We’ll have to wait and see.
"The audience has met them before so that’s intriguing isn’t it!? And it’s a he."
Vanessa confront the mysterious hooded figure as he tries to burn down The Woolpack and everyone inside.
The attacker stares up at the pub before picking up a petrol can and splashing it around the bins.
Vanessa instantly recognises the man that stabbed her
Revealing why her character gets involved, Michelle said: "Basically Vanessa and Charity are having a few little arguments with each other but nothing major. Vanessa is getting the sense that Charity is always having a go and that Vanessa isn’t good enough for her.
"Vanessa has had enough and gets Johnny and leaves the pub and then Charity follows her out and they have another argument that escalates quite quickly and she puts Johnny in car and they drive off without making up.
"She drives round the corner and she stops the car and says to Johnny: ‘I’m being silly, I’ve over reacted and come on lets go back.’
"And as she drives around corner she sees this hooded figure and they have petrol can. This person has poured petrol all around The Woolpack.
"Vanessa doesn’t know what to do in that instance, with a pub full of people and her girlfriend inside. And so she does what she thinks is the right thing and tackles him and in that instant she gets stabbed."
Vanessa is left to bleed out
As if things couldn’t get any worse for Vanessa, the perpetrator then makes a quick getaway in her car, but fails to realise her son is in the back seat.
Wounded Vanessa is powerless to do anything as her son is kidnapped and driven out of the village while she bleeds out.
Michelle explained: "Vanessa is on the floor and she’s stunned and in a lot of pain and doesn’t realise how bad it actually is, and then the man who stabbed her gets in her car and drives off with her son in the back."
It is not yet known whether Vanessa will survive the ordeal or whether the villagers inside The Woolpack will get out alive.
Horrified Vanessa watches on as her attacker drives off with her son
Charity does manage to find her girlfriend but is left with feelings of guilt as her condition takes a bad turn.
Michelle added: ‘What’s awful about this situation is the last time they spoke, they were in the midst of a very heated argument and Vanessa had stormed off and Charity let her and so the last thing Charity said to her was this argument.
"I think there will be a lot of guilt. But I think if she pulls through then I think it would bring them closer, who knows?"
