It’s a truth, universally acknowledged, that films and television shows are often riddled with gaping plot holes and continuity errors.
Sometimes they’re obvious for all to see and many choose to simply ignore them and enjoy the rest of the viewing.
Other times, they’re better hidden and it takes a while for anyone to notice.
This seems to be the case with 90s sitcom Friends, in which dedicated fans have just spotted a big mistake in the show – 14 years after it ended.

According to a Reddit user named FrostedMiniWheats123, there’s a massive mistake made in the sitcom during season eight and it’s all to do with Rachel.
Rachel Green, played by Jennifer Aniston, is pregnant throughout this season, expecting her first child.
But it seems the TV show creators slipped up and made a rather unfortunate continuity error in the length of her pregnancy.

The Reddit user claims that the dates given in the programme suggest Rachel was pregnant for a whole year!
Obviously, we all know that women only carry babies for nine months, so this is very strange.
Let’s take a closer look at why they think this.
They explained: "Just watched through all the seasons of Friends for the millionth time and realised a huge continuity error.

"In season seven, episode 17, The One with the Cheap Wedding Dress, Monica says she is getting married May 15th.
"From season eight, episode one, The One After I Do, we find out Rachel is officially pregnant and has been for at least a couple weeks."
The user then fast forwards to season eight, episode 6, The One with the Halloween Party.
They explain that as it’s a Halloween episode, it must be set in October, making Rachel at least five months pregnant – yet she shows no signs of a baby bump at the time.

Moreover, in season seven, episode 24, The One with Chandler and Monica’s Wedding: Part 2, Joey reveals that his World War I film will be released on Memorial Day Weekend.
In the US, Memorial Day is observed every year on the last Monday of May.
Rachel later reveals in season eight, The One where Rachel is Late, that her due date is the week before Joey’s movie premiere.
This would mean, her due date is in May and she announced her pregnancy in May the previous year.

Thus, from the dates supplied, it appears the character would have been pregnant for at least 12 months.
Fans of the show shared their thoughts on the discovery in the comments of the Reddit thread.
One said: "Continuity is not the show’s strong suit."
Another posted: "As much as I love friends it has countless continuity and editing errors. I forgive them only because I love all the actors and the writing is good 90% of the time."
A third added that they had to ignore the errors in the show while watching, or they’d go "insane".
