Bloodiest soap at Christmas revealed – and it’s NOT the one you’d expect

It has long become a tradition for many Brits to enjoy watching their favourite soap on Christmas Day after tucking into their roast.

And for some soaps, that means a bloody death or two amongst all the drama.

While EastEnders has become known for its grizzly deaths during the festive period, it is not actually the bloodiest soap on Christmas Eve and Day themselves.

Instead, ITV soap Emmerdale currently holds the record for the most deaths on the two festive days – seven to EastEnders ‘ five. Coronation Street trails behind with just one death.

Two members of the King family have died on Christmas Day, with Tom King murdered by Carl King in 2006 and Rosemary King shooting herself in 2007.

Jean Tate Snr, Dave Glover and Vic Windsor died in 1984, 1996 and 1998, respectively.

Over on EastEnders, fans will remember Jamie Mitchell’s harrowing death on Christmas Day after being mowed down by Martin Fowler. Pauline Fowler also died on Christmas Day 2006 while Archie Mitchell was bludgeoned to death by Stacey Slater in 2009. Yusef Kahn also died in a house fire in 2011.

On Coronation Street, the one death that occurred during the two days was a 10-year-old boy called Simon who was rushed to Weatherfield General on Christmas Day in 199 after being knocked off his bike.

During the twelve days of Christmas, however, EastEnders has the highest death count.

This includes Paul Trueman being tragically shot dead by a mob hitman on December 23 2004 and Nana Moon’s heartbreaking death on December 16 2005.
