Soap fans have been left fuming over a rare schedule overlap on New Year’s Day.
As with Christmas Day, each of the soaps are usually spaced out so that viewers can watch one after the other without having to choose.
But EastEnders and Coronation Street fans have been left bitterly disappointed after discovering that both of the soaps will overlap on January 1.
Each of the hour-long specials will be airing at 8pm on BBC one and ITV – meaning that viewers will have to choose between the two.

Fans were fuming, with one despairing viewer tweeting: "Nightmare! Christmas is ruined!!"
However Emmerdale’s hour-long episode will be airing at 7pm.
Over in Walford, Mel’s explosive wedding day to Ray arrives and she has one thing on her mind – revenge.
Viewers can expect fireworks as things quickly spiral out of control.

Meanwhile over on the cobbles, Gail is suspicious of Lewis when he calls into the salon and begs Audrey to meet him in the bistro.
Audrey confides in Maria that she really does love Lewis and later goes out to buy a dress for the dinner date.
But later Gail finds Audrey waiting anxiously in the bistro, Lewis not having turned up. She is heartbroken and is left fearing Gail was right all along…
