Actress Amber Heard has spoken out about domestic abuse and how the backlash following her allegations of abuse against ex-husband Johnny Depp affected her life and career.
The 32-year-old, who is starring in Aquaman, said that she lost out on a number of roles after she "felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out," following her claims about violence against her.
Writing an op-ed for the Washington Post , Amber gave a frank assessment of what happened after the furore that surrounded her speaking out about what happened in her marriage to the Hollywood actor.
Amber shared that, "friends and advisers told me I would never again work as an actress – that I would be blacklisted."

She went on to write that, "a movie I was attached to recast my role,” and that a global fashion brand dropped her, after Amber "had just shot a two-year campaign."
Amber also revealed that her roles in movie blockbusters, Justice League and Aquaman were almost compromised by the fallout from her allegations.
Johnny Depp, 55, has always denied the abuse allegations and has said that they were, “salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation, and lies.”

The depth of feeling against Amber was revealed as she said that the public’s reaction was pretty extreme.
Amber revealed that she had to change her phone number due to "getting death threats" and that she, "rarely left my apartment, and when I did, I was pursued by camera drones and photographers on foot, on motorcycles and in cars.”

Amber believed that she, "was on trial in the court of public opinion," and that she hoped that by sharing her thoughts, it could “ensure that women who come forward to talk about violence receive more support.”
Amber divorced Johnny in 2017, just two years after they married and she has challenged the public to, "work together to demand changes to laws and rules and social norms."
