Dalton Harris’ mum has revealed her distress over the allegations of abuse her X Factor winner son claimed blighted his childhood.
Talented singer Dalton previously told The Mirror how he was raised in poverty and left with scars all over his body, though he refused to give names.
Responding to the allegations in an interview with the Jamaican Star , Dalton’s mum Sylvia Campbell burst into hysterical sobs.
She also told Loop Jamaica."I made sure all of them attended school straight through. Nobody can look at my children and say, ‘Jesus, dem look awful’. I tried my best. I am sorry that I hurt him that much (emotionally), but me just don’t understand this.

Dalton said singing offered him an escape from his troubled past
Dalton’s mum Sylvia has been left extremely distressed
"Yes, (as a child) I beat him when he was rude, but it was more scolding than anything else. I scold him out outta love because growing up, he was very troublesome," claimed Sylvia.
"When he went on the X Factor and said that my eldest daughter was like a mother to him, it made me look like a careless mother. It mek people ask: ‘What kinda careless mother she is for Dalton’s oldest sister to have to be there for him like a mother?"
She did however admit to the Weekend Star to beating her son with a pair of slippers and claimed she was a stressed out single mother with no help and her electricity was disconnected.

Dalton said he’d been left with scars all over his body
24-year-old Dalton previously opened up The Mirror about his troubled childhood.
He said: "“There’s a cut above my right eyebrow and cuts around my ears and head but I grew my hair to hide them
"There are [scars] on my chest, arm, shoulder, back, thighs, legs and feet. I was punched so hard by a guy dating my mum, I crashed through a window."
Speaking of the emotional abuse he said: "I was told that I should walk into the road and kill myself."

Dalton’s mum said she’s been given verbal abuse by strangers over the claims
Responding to the allegations, Sylvia claimed to the Weekend Star that she had told her son to go and stand in front of a truck after he’d ‘been giving her trouble all day’.
"People’s parents tell them worse than that and they move past it," she said.
Since Dalton went public with the allegations, Sylvia people said people have come up to her in the street in her native Jamaica to call her a ‘miserable woman’ and a ‘b*tch.’
She also said she was left struggling to eat or sleep during her son’s time in the competition.
But despite the backlash, Sylvia said she still loves Dalton very much: "My son was my everything and still is."

Speaking ahead of his win at the weekend, Dalton described singing as a form of therapy.
"When I sing I feel safe and free from everything I left behind. I’m in a room of happiness,” he said.
Though Dalton’s time on The X Factor is not his first stab at reality TV stardom.

He was previously crowned champion of televised singing competition Digicel Rising Stars, which airs in Jamica.
On the back of the show he was signed to Penthouse Records and travelled to the States and Mexico to pursue his music career.
In 2014 Dalton bagged a number One single in the Jamaica dancehall charts with single Pauper.
But despite his initial flurry of chart success, Dalton’s suffered a decline in popularity, leading him over to the UK’s biggest music contest which he claimed the top prize of after winning 40% of the vote on the night of the live grand final.
