He might be better known these days as the brooding police sergeant from BBC thriller Bodyguard, but in real life Richard Madden does not take himself too seriously.
The Scottish actor delighted fans by revealing a hilarious throwback picture from his school days as he jokingly compared himself to a potato.
Dressed in his school uniform of black blazer, white shirt and green tie, a short-haired Richard beamed for the camera.
"Wow. You really blossomed," said one of his followers.
"Our future children will be gorgeous," joked another.
How Richard looks now
12-year-old Richard is adorable
It comes after Richard revealed he didn’t have the best time in school and was cruelly bullied by his peers.
"My high school was really rough. Growing up was just constant humiliation really.
"I went to youth theatre to try and get a bit more confidence.
"In hindsight maybe not the best move to try and fit into a rough, very masculine school to say, ‘Now I do song and dance!’"

He also opened up to GQ magazine about how he struggled with his weight and had a 32in waist as a child.
"I didn’t wear denim until I was 19 because my mum couldn’t take my jeans up so I wore f***ing chinos," he said.
Some fans think he’d be a great James Bond
Since becoming a household name since his role in Bodyguard, Richard has been hotly tipped to play the next James Bond.
Asked if he’d ever consider taking the coveted role from Daniel Craig, Richard said: "Yeah I love the movies. I’ve read all the books."
He also said he was ‘flattered to be mentioned’ as a contender before attempting to play down the hype: "This is what happens with all these shows, like Tom Hiddleston after The Night Manager. I don’t want to curse anything by saying anything."
